CMS Launches Exchange Certification
The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has launched the first part of the certification process required for producers to sell insurance products in federally facilitated and state partnership exchanges.
There are different requirements that must be completed depending on the products that the producer wishes to sell. Please note that some courses are highly recommended but not required.
The following outlines the different requirements along with estimated times to complete the curriculum:

You can access the first part of the certification through the Medicare Learning Network. You will need to register an ID and Password before accessing the site. Once registered you can select the curriculum to complete based on the product(s) you wish to sell.
The second part of the certification process is expected to be available later this month at the CMS Enterprise Portal. It will only be required for producers that want to enroll consumers in the Individual Marketplace. We will send out more details as it becomes available, but this part should take approximately 30 minutes to complete and will require producers to verify their identity as part of the process.
It should be noted that state-based exchanges will have their own training and certification requirements. In addition, some insurance carriers may have supplemental training that will need to be completed to sell their products in the exchanges.
Don’t forget you must also be licensed and appointed with the carriers in the exchange to receive compensation for any enrollments
